ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. PP36,797, issued on July 1, was assigned to Corn Bak B.V. (Netherlands).
"Schefflera plant named 'Mato'" was invented by Elly Bak (Assendelft, Netherlands).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Schefflera plant named 'Mato' is disclosed, characterized by a compact growth habit, and palmately compound leaves. Plants grow rapidly and are suitable for commercial production in 13 cm and larger pots. The new variety is a Schefflera, typically produced as an ornamental plant."
The patent was filed on Oct. 10, 2024, under Application No. 18/911,567.
