ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,326,436, issued on June 10, was assigned to ConocoPhillips Co. (Houston).

"Determination of chloride concentration in drilling fluids" was invented by Jay Locklear (Houston) and Molly Merritt (Tulsa, Okla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a system and method for analyzing drilling fluid from a drilling rig for accessing subterranean hydrocarbons. The system and method involve analysis for chloride by replacing conventional chemical titration with electrical conductivity titration."
