ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 13 -- United States Patent no. 12,523,100, issued on Jan. 13, was assigned to ConocoPhillips Co. (Houston).
"BHA with electric directional drilling motor" was invented by Hans-Jacob Lund (Houston).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The disclosure describes a BHA that generates electricity downhole which can then be utilized with an electric motor to turn the drive shaft and for drive shaft orientation. The disclosure also describes a more accurate MWD measurements by placing MWD sensors closer to drill bit."
The patent was filed on Sept. 19, 2023, under Application No. 18/470,145.
