ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,544,423, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to Complement Therapeutics Ltd. (London).

"C3b binding polypeptide" was invented by Paul Bishop (London), Simon Clark (London) and Richard Unwin (London).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Polypeptides comprising a C3b binding region are disclosed, as well as nucleic acids and vectors encoding such polypeptides, and cells and compositions comprising such polypeptides. Also disclosed arc uses and methods using the polypeptides for treating and preventing diseases and conditions."

The patent was filed on Oct. 20, 2022, under Application No. 18/048,303.
