ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,323,235, issued on June 3, was assigned to CommScope Technologies LLC (Claremont, N.C.).

"In-band signaling for ingress PTP packets at a master entity" was invented by Santosh Ajjannavar (Belguam, India), Irfaan Ahamed Salahuddeen (Acton, Mass.) and Maunang Contractor (Bangalore, India).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "One embodiment is directed to a technique for in-band signaling of time stamp information where a kernel driver executing in kernel space modifies a received timing message (for example, a Precision Time Protocol (PTP) Delay Request message) to include timing information associated with the time the timing message was received...
