ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,463,934, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to Comcast Cable Communications LLC (Philadelphia).

"Wireless extension of broadband access" was invented by Ivan Ong (Malvern, Pa.), Clifton Lowery (Philadelphia) and David J. Urban (Downingtown, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Wireless extension of a wired network through the use of strand-mounted access nodes. In some aspects, private network addresses may be assigned to wireless devices, and corresponding data traffic may be routed to a centralized management/provisioning platform for further network access."

The patent was filed on Dec. 13, 2022, under Application No. 18/079,964.
