ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,243,520, issued on March 4, was assigned to Comcast Cable Communications LLC (Philadelphia).
"Keyword-based audio source localization" was invented by Scott Kurtz (Mount Laurel, N.J.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for determining a direction associated with a detected spoken keyword, forming an acoustic beam in the determined direction, and listening for subsequent speech using the acoustic beam in the determined direction."
The patent was filed on Sept. 5, 2023, under Application No. 18/461,057.
