ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,491,706, issued on Dec. 9, was assigned to Columbia Insurance Co. (Omaha, Neb.).
"Composite panels having a melamine impregnated protective layer" was invented by Anthony Drevet (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and Philippe Erramuzpe (Augusta, Ga.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The disclosed panels generally comprise a protective layer composed of a paper impregnated with a melamine resin. The protective layer may be incorporated into a panel comprising a rigid composite core, such as a plastic composite core or a mineral composite core.
