ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,465,755, issued on Nov. 11, was assigned to Cochlear Ltd. (Macquarie University, Australia).

"Neural stimulator with flying lead electrode" was invented by Paul Michael Carter (Galson, Australia).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A neural stimulator, suitable for implanting in a recipient, and having a flying lead with a configurable electrode. A benefit is an intra-operative ability to adjust the connection between the lead and an anatomically correct electrode, which obviates the need to manufacture multiple different configurations of implant to suit different placements of flying lead electrode."
