ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,312,536, issued on May 27, was assigned to CNPC USA Corp. (Houston), Beijing Huamei Inc. (Beijing) and China National Petroleum Corp. (Beijing).

"Low concentration synthetic polymer fracturing fluid with ascorbic acid" was invented by Lulu Song (Houston) and Stephanie Yu (Houston).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A fracturing fluid for fracturing subterranean formations comprising ascorbic acid. The fracturing fluid can use ascorbic acid to delay increases in viscosity until desired. The viscosity increase can then be maintained over a period of time to perform fracturing operations."
