"Bottom side air flow for optical module and cage" was invented by Joseph F. Jacques (Austin, Texas) and Mark C. Nowell (Ottawa).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The module device assemblies and systems described herein provide for increased cooling airflow through electronic devices via airflow channels. The module device assemblies also prevent radiation or other noise from emitting through the device assemblies using electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) shields."
