ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 13 -- United States Patent no. 12,523,830, issued on Jan. 13, was assigned to Ciena Corp. (Hanover, Md.).

"Small footprint independent heatsink attachment for a pluggable optical module" was invented by Peter Vincent Saturley (Ottawa) and Jennifer Trac (Nepean, Canada).
