US Patent Issued to Chugai Seiyaku on Nov. 18 for "Methods for controlling blood pharmacokinetics of antibodies" (Japanese Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,473,375, issued on Nov. 18, was assigned to Chugai Seiyaku K.K. (Tokyo).

"Methods for controlling blood pharmacokinetics of antibodies" was invented by Tomoyuki Igawa (Shizuoka, Japan), Hiroyuki Tsunoda (Shizuoka, Japan) and Tatsuhiko Tachibana (Shizuoka, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present inventors discovered that the half-life in blood of an IgG antibody which is a polypeptide comprising an FcRn-binding domain can be controlled by controlling the surface charge through modification of residues exposed on the surface among residues in the variable regions of the IgG antibody.
