ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,539,071, issued on Feb. 3, was assigned to Children's Hospital Los Angeles (Los Angeles).
"Eye tracking technique for assessment of visual acuity" was invented by Melinda Y. Chang (Arcadia, Calif.) and Mark S. Borchert (La Canada, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present inventive concept provides methods of determining whether a subject has cortical or cerebral visual impairment (CVI) as well as determining whether the subject has a traumatic brain injury thereby allowing treatment for these conditions. The present inventive concept also provides a standardized method for assessing pediatric or adolescent visual acuity."
