ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,270,005, issued on April 8, was assigned to CHEVRON ORONITE COMPANY LLC (San Ramon, Calif.).

"Lubricant containing polyphosphate additives" was invented by Kenneth D. Nelson (Napa, Calif.) and Jonathan A. Moore (San Francisco).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A lubricating oil composition is described. The composition includes a major amount of a base oil of lubricating viscosity and a polyphosphate-based dispersion. The dispersion includes an ammonium polyphosphate and a dispersing agent."

The patent was filed on March 16, 2022, under Application No. 18/264,000.
