ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,391,954, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to Ceres Inc. (Thousand Oaks, Calif.).

"Transgenic plants having altered biomass composition" was invented by Nestor Apuya (Culver City, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods and materials for modulating biomass composition in plants are disclosed. For example, nucleic acids encoding biomass composition-modulating polypeptides are disclosed as well as methods for using such nucleic acids to transform plant cells. Also disclosed are plants having altered biomass composition and plant products produced from plants having altered biomass composition."
