ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,277,921, issued on April 15, was assigned to Cerence Operating Co. (Burlington, Mass.).

"In-cabin audio filtering" was invented by Tim Haulick (Ulm, Germany) and Markus Buck (Ulm, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A vehicle includes a cabin, an internal-loudspeaker set an external-microphone set, and a signal processor that filters a raw audio signal that has been received by the external-microphone set broadcasts the resulting filtered audio signal into the cabin using the internal-loudspeaker set."

The patent was filed on Oct. 29, 2021, under Application No. 18/039,061.
