ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,448,549, issued on Oct. 21, was assigned to Celanese International Corp. (Irving, Texas).

"VAE dispersion for D3 wood adhesives" was invented by Frank Bertram Polzer (Frankfurt, Germany) and Daniela Hardt (Sulzbach, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are D3 water-resistant adhesive compositions comprising aqueous copolymer dispersions and uses of such compositions. The compositions are useful as binders for porous and semi-porous substrates such as wood, paper, and/or board. Importantly, the adhesive compositions have very low formaldehyde content and little or no plasticizer content."
