"Projection device" was invented by Chihaya Sugiyama (Fussa, Japan).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A projection device includes an optical lens and a light source. The optical lens has an incident surface of light, a reflecting surface that has a concave curved surface and internally reflects light that has entered through the incident surface, and an exit surface of light that has been reflected by the reflecting surface. The light source that emits light that enters the optical lens."
