ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,251,410, issued on March 18, was assigned to CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY (Cleveland).
"Anticancer trail-targeted plant virus particles" was invented by Nicole F. Steinmetz (San Diego).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An agent is described that includes a plant virus particle or VLP conjugate to TRAIL. Associating TRAIL with the plant virus particle or VLP serves to both target cancer cells and induce their apoptosis. The agent can therefore be used for a method of treating cancer in a subject."
