ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,336,552, issued on June 24, was assigned to Cargill Inc. (Wayzata, Minn.).

"Fish feed prepared from oilseed plants producing omega-3 fatty acids" was invented by Paula Isabel Arriagada (Puerto Varas, Chile), Alejandro Mauricio Capdeville (Concepcion, Chile) and Diliara Iassonova (Maple Grove, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Fish feeds that contain omega-3 fatty acids derived from modified oilseed plants such as Brassica and others, in some cases in place of or in addition to omega-3 fatty acids derived from marine oil."

The patent was filed on June 1, 2017, under Application No. 16/305,786.
