"Color conversion between color spaces using reduced dimension embeddings" was invented by Austin Grant Walters (Savoy, Ill.), Jeremy Edward Goodsitt (Champaign, Ill.) and Vincent Pham (Champaign, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Exemplary embodiments may provide an approach to converting multidimensional color data for an image encoded in a first color space into an intermediate form that is a single dimensional value.
