ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,337,316, issued on June 24, was assigned to CAPITAINER AB (Solna, Sweden).
"Plasma separating microfluidic device" was invented by Niclas Roxhed (Bromma, Sweden), Goran Stemme (Lidingo, Sweden), Gabriel Lenk (Freiburg, Germany), Wouter Van Der Wijngaart (Sollentuna, Sweden) and Jonas Hansson (Stockholm).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A capillary driven microfluidic device with blood plasma separation means that can be used to separate, meter and transfer a blood sample. The blood separation means can be arranged as a capillary pump by the configuration of a porous membrane and the microfluidic device."
