ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,360,338, issued on July 15, was assigned to Canon K.K. (Tokyo).

"Converter lens, interchangeable lens, and image pickup apparatus" was invented by Shinya Okuoka (Utsunomiya, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A converter lens includes three or more negative lenses and increases the focal length of an entire system, in which an average refractive index Ndave at the d-line (wavelength of 587.56 nm) of a material of all the negative lenses included in the converter lens is defined."

The patent was filed on March 22, 2024, under Application No. 18/614,348.
