"Device for the preparation of a hot beverage" was invented by Markus Widmer (Thun, Switzerland) and Thomas Liebe (Thun, Switzerland).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A device for the preparation of a hot beverage comprises a water reservoir, a flow heater and a brewing device. The water reservoir has a connection element for cold water. The water reservoir is fluidly connected to the flow heater, so that the flow heater can be filled with the cold water from the water reservoir."
