ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,274,613, issued on April 15, was assigned to C. R. Bard Inc. (Franklin Lakes, N.J.).

"Polymer composite-covered stents" was invented by Mathew Dixon (Mesa, Ariz.) and Albana Kosta (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Stent, stent coverings, and methods of making medical devices useful in vascular valves are disclosed. Stent coverings include layered, oriented, or calendered polymer films."

The patent was filed on Dec. 23, 2014, under Application No. 14/582,074.
