ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,441,468, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to Brown University (Providence, R.I.).
"Bio-inspired flapping wing/fin robotic platform" was invented by Xiaozhou Fan (Pasadena, Calif.) and Kenneth Breuer (Newton, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A three degrees-of freedom robotic flapper includes a fuselage, the fuselage housing motors and driving trains, a left wing attached to the fuselage, and a right wing attached to the fuselage, the left wing and the right wing configured to perform a wing flapping motion, a wing twisting motion and a wing folding motion."
The patent was filed on Nov. 20, 2023, under Application No. 18/514,625.
