ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,374,179, issued on July 29, was assigned to Brivo Systems LLC (Bethesda, Md.).

"Distributed one-time-use entry code generation for physical access control method of operation and mobile systems" was invented by Hsin-Cheng Chiu (Bethesda, Md.) and Steven Mark Bryant (Sterling, Va.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A physical access control system enables acceptable portal entry codes upon receiving each physical access request by operating on the elapsed time from a previous physical access request to generate a temporal credential. The controller receives a plurality of physical access requests from a plurality of mobile application devices...
