US Patent Issued to BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS on March 25 for "Detecting a loop length change in a digital subscriber line" (British Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,261,978, issued on March 25, was assigned to BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS PLC (London).

"Detecting a loop length change in a digital subscriber line" was invented by Feiyu Fang (London), Lykourgos Kekempanos (London) and Daniel Gilks (London).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Presented is a method of detecting a loop length change in a digital subscriber line. An Uncalibrated Echo Response (UER) trace is obtained from the digital subscriber line by running a Single Ended Line Test (SELT). A historical (baseline) UER trace from the same line is retrieved. A line that has experienced a small change in loop length will have the same overall shap...
