ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,379,497, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to BRIGHTWAY VISION LTD. (Tirat Carmel, Israel) and KOITO MANUFACTURING Co. LTD. (Tokyo).

"Object identification system" was invented by Kensuke Arai (Shizuoka, Japan), Toru Nagashima (Shizuoka, Japan), Koji Itaba (Shizuoka, Japan) and Jun Kano (Shizuoka, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An object identification system includes a camera and a processing device. The processing device includes a classifier subjected to machine learning based on the output image of the camera so as to allow it to identify an object. A gating camera divides a field of view in the depth direction into multiple ranges...
