ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,272,772, issued on April 8, was assigned to Bridgelux Inc. (Fremont, Calif.).

"Phosphor-converted red LEDs and color-tunable multi-LED packaged light emitting devices" was invented by Jingqiong Zhang (Xiamen, China), Yi-Qun Li (Danville, Calif.) and Jungang Zhao (Suzhou, China).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A red-light emitting device comprising: a blue LED chip; and a photoluminescence material comprising a narrowband red fluoride phosphor and a broadband red phosphor. The narrowband red phosphor may comprise a manganese-activated fluoride phosphor of composition K2SiF6:Mn4+, K2GeF6:Mn4+, and K2TiF6:Mn4+."
