ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 5 -- United States Patent no. PP36,533, issued on March 4, was assigned to Brian's Botanicals (Louisville, Ky.).
"Colocasia plant named 'COPHANTO'" was invented by Brian Paul Williams (Louisville, Ky.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "'COPHANTO' is a new and distinctive Colocasia plant which is characterized by near-black, strongly rugose, and velvety laminas borne on near-black petioles, heavily glaucous foliage which has an iridescent quality when viewed in direct sunlight, and the stability of all characteristics from generation to generation."
The patent was filed on April 11, 2024, under Application No. 18/445,951.
