ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. PP37,241, issued on Feb. 3, was assigned to BOTANICO INC. (Mcminnville, Tenn.).

"Cornus plant named 'Botfire'" was invented by Bobby F. Flanders (McMinnville, Tenn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new cultivar of Cornus plant named 'Botfire' that is characterized by its foliage that is tinged red to bronze with the color persistent throughout fall, its flowers with dark pink to red colored flower bracts, its sturdy trunk, and its viability after chip budding onto Cornus kousa rootstock."

The patent was filed on Jan. 25, 2025, under Application No. 19/037,195.
