ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,303,181, issued on May 20, was assigned to Boston Scientific Scimed Inc. (Maple Grove, Minn.).

"Systems and methods for treatment of prostatic tissue" was invented by Michael Hoey (Shoreview, Minn.) and John H. Shadduck (Menlo Park, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A prostate therapy system is provided that may include any of a number of features. One feature of the prostate therapy system is that it can access a prostate lobe transurethrally.
