ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,280,182, issued on April 22, was assigned to Boston Scientific Scimed Inc. (Maple Grove, Minn.).

"Platelet-activated bioadhesive stent coating as an anti-migration mechanism" was invented by Michelle Fater (Worcester, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A stent having an inner surface and an outer surface, the stent comprising a coating composition comprising a platelet-activated adhesive on at least a portion of the outer surface thereof."

The patent was filed on Oct. 6, 2021, under Application No. 17/494,997.
