ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,440,082, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to BISSELL Inc. (Grand Rapids, Mich.).

"Extraction cleaner" was invented by Mitchell DeJonge (Fruitport, Mich.) and Kenneth M. Lenkiewicz (Grand Rapids, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An extraction cleaner for a floor surface includes an extraction nozzle. The extraction nozzle that defines a fluid flow path having an elongated nozzle opening, and includes one or more stiffening elements that stiffens the walls around the nozzle opening to prevent collapsing or deformation of the extraction nozzle during use."

The patent was filed on March 7, 2023, under Application No. 18/179,561.
