ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 29 -- United States Patent no. 12,209,277, issued on Jan. 28, was assigned to Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. (Hercules, Calif.).

"Methods and compositions for deconvoluting partition barcodes" was invented by Sean Cater (Pinole, Calif.), Lucas Frenz (San Leandro, Calif.), Andrew Kohlway (Pleasanton, Calif.), Jennifer Chew (Sunnyvale, Calif.), Rob Ray (Oakland, Calif.) and Ronald Lebofsky (Kensington, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods are provided of assessing whether multiple differently-barcoded primers occur within the same partition."
