"Digital analyte analysis" was invented by John Brian Hutchison (Medford, Mass.), Jeffrey Charles Olson (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Darren Roy Link (Lafayette, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention generally relates to droplet based digital PCR and methods for analyzing a target nucleic acid using the same. In certain embodiments, a method for determining the nucleic acid make-up of a sample is provided."
