ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,385,081, issued on Aug. 12, was assigned to Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. (Hercules, Calif.).

"Detection of pathogens in wastewater" was invented by Monica Herrera (Dublin, Calif.) and Josh Shinoff (Emeryville, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods of concentrating RNA from wastewater and quantifying the RNA by digital amplification are provided."
