ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,350,299, issued on July 8, was assigned to Bio-Cat Microbials LLC (Shakopee, Minn.).

"Bacillus velezensis compositions and methods of use thereof" was invented by Jessica Spears (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Laura Brutscher (Maplewood, Minn.), Sean Garvey (Zion Crossroads, Va.), James Farmar (Charlottesville, Va.), Sebhat Gebrechristos (Lakeville, Minn.) and Christopher Schuler (Charlottesville, Va.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A spore-forming Bacillus species, and more particularly, a Bacillus velezensis strain identified as BV379 is provided. Compositions comprising BV379 and methods of using the same are also provided."
