ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,396,864, issued on Aug. 26, was assigned to BIEDERMANN TECHNOLOGIES GMBH & Co. KG (Donaueschingen, Germany).

"Implant for engagement between vertebrae, and implant kit" was invented by Timo Biedermann (Trossingen, Germany), Berthold Dannecker (St. Georgen, Germany) and Lutz Biedermann (VS-Vilingen, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An implant that is implantable between vertebrae includes a monolithic body with a first end and a second end opposite the first end, an outer surface extending axially from the first end to the second end, a plurality of teeth at the first end, each of the teeth extending axially away from the second end...
