ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,458,159, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to Berry Plastics Corp. (Evansville, Ind.).
"Drink cup" was invented by David Y. O'Nan (Henderson, Ky.), Brad A. Ruminer (Evansville, Ind.) and Jeffrey A. Mann (Evansville, Ind.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A drink cup includes a body formed to include an interior region providing a fluid-holding reservoir and a brim. The brim is coupled to the body to form an opening into the interior region. The body includes a floor and a sidewall that extends away from the floor. The drink cup further includes a body-strengthening system coupled to the body."
