ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,491,353, issued on Dec. 9, was assigned to Becton Dickinson and Co. (Franklin Lakes, N.J.).

"Syringe with disinfecting feature" was invented by Evan Leibowitz (Linden, N.J.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Syringe assemblies comprising an absorbent pad containing disinfectant and a rotatable cap to ensure adherence to aseptic techniques for use in flush procedures for vascular access devices (VAD's) are described. Also described are methods of disinfecting vascular access devices."

The patent was filed on Feb. 19, 2020, under Application No. 17/619,095.
