ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,312,437, issued on May 27, was assigned to Beckman Coulter Inc. (Brea, Calif.).

"Photoactive macromolecules and uses thereof" was invented by Arunkumar Easwaran (Miami) and Sergei Gulnik (San Jose, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides water soluble photoactive macromolecular complexes and methods for detecting an analyte in a sample by using a binding agent conjugated to a water soluble photoactive macromolecule."

The patent was filed on Oct. 9, 2023, under Application No. 18/483,309.
