According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A pedestrian warning device for an electrically drivable motor vehicle has a warning sound generator and a warning sound controller that is configured to control the warning sound generator to make same generate, when the vehicle reverses or advances slowly, a warning sound perceptible by persons in the surroundings of the motor vehicle. The warning sound controller is configured to adapt the warning sound."
