ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,304,264, issued on May 20, was assigned to Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (Munich).

"Spring-damper system" was invented by Maximilian Dietrich (Seefeld, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A spring-damper system for a wheel suspension of a motor vehicle comprise a support spring of a spring constant kT and a damper acting in parallel to the support spring. A spring element is arranged in series with the support spring and can be controlled by means of a controller in such a way that a total spring constant kG of the spring-damper system can be varied."

The patent was filed on Oct. 27, 2022, under Application No. 18/693,409.
