ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,534,027, issued on Jan. 27, was assigned to Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (Munich).
"Trim part" was invented by Thomas Aumann (Buch am Erlbach, Germany), Florian Dechant (Adlkofen, Germany) and Johann Gasslhuber (Buch am Erlbach, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A trim part has a carrier part and a surface cover which is disposed on a side of the carrier part that faces the surface cover. The surface cover is made from an inherently stiff knitted fabric material."
The patent was filed on Feb. 22, 2023, under Application No. 18/112,691.
