According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An actuating apparatus for a motor vehicle includes an actuating element which is adjustable by loading with a magnetic field between a first position which provides a first vehicle function and a second position which provides a second vehicle function and a magnetic device where the actuating element can be loaded with the magnetic field by the magnetic device. The actuating element is an additively manufactured component."
