ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,478,536, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to Batesville Services LLC (Batesville, Ind.).

"Mechanism for the bed of a casket" was invented by Christopher Carl Struewing (Batesville, Ind.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A casket comprising a mechanism for changing an elevation of a bed of the casket, the mechanism including a first rod, a second rod, and a planar member, the first rod, the second rod, and the planar member are all made of combustible material."

The patent was filed on Dec. 12, 2023, under Application No. 18/536,978.
