ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,296,328, issued on May 13, was assigned to BASF SE (Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany).

"Directly electrical heated reactor" was invented by Heinz Posselt (Pullach, Germany), Otto Machhammer (Pullach, Germany), Markus Weikl (Pullach, Germany), Nicolai Antweiler (Essen, Germany) and Karsten Buker (Dortmund, Germany).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to a reactor comprising a moving bed of solid particles that move in the direction of gravitation, and to a method for heating a reactor that comprises a moving bed, for the purpose of pyrolysis reactions."
